ESCLM Weekly Update: Vol.35, August 25, 2009

Dear ESCLM Members,

On August 20th, the ESCLM held an information session with the participants of the ESCLM Rapid Response Project, to provide an overview of the protocol for developing a pool of qualified ESCLM agency staff, who can respond promptly and effectively to area lay-offs or plant closures.

Attendees also heard about Employment Counsellor experiences at Action Centres, specialized Common Assessment Training, as well as the perspective and experiences of an Action Centre Coordinator.

Professional Development for Staff

The new ESCLM Professional Development Sub Committee is seeking input from all our agency staff regarding PD events in which they would be interested in participating.

We have attached a brief survey (only 10 questions) of questions about PD topics and PD event formats that we feel will be useful in further developing our program. It also includes an inventory of the skills and expertise that exist within our agencies. The survey is available now until the end of the day on Monday, September 7.

Please pass on this request to your staff: these PD initiatives are being developed in direct response to your Member requests for more agency staff engagement and support.
