Dear ESCLM Members;
We are pleased to bring you the Summer 2010 "What's in Common?" newsletter which provides all sorts of news, updates, and conversations about our network's Common Assessment Process (CAP).
"What's in Common?" is a labour of love, culminating from all the hard work of the CAP Subcommittee, our community of CAP trainers, and our career development practitioners, under the skilled guidance of editor Wendy Richards.
I encourage you to share this with your staff and colleagues. As a community, we have much of which to be proud, and CAP is continued evidence of ESCLM member commitment to excellence and innovation.

ERC and Frontline Staff Workshop
Due to popular demand, we are offering our one-day "Understanding CAP and Community Employment Resources" Workshop in the third week of August. Date still to be confirmed.
This session provides staff with an understanding of the Common Assessment Process, used by employment counsellors in the London Region for assessing clients and preparing their employment plans. The course also informs resource centre staff about the employment and training services available in the community. It includes opportunities to practice skills in exercises designed to simulate the busy nature of an ERC. It prodices participants with the knowledge and reassurance to provide the most accurate information and to refer their clients to the agencies and resources which will best serve their needs.

The program is part of the Enhanced Employment Service funding of Ontario Works, and is primarily targeted for OW recipients, but we also have a few non-funded spots available.
Attached is a brochure outlining the program. If you have participants who fit the profile we would encourage you to have them contact Julie Hobin, Coordinator of the New Start program at (519) 667-7795.
